The first kind of car part that involves mind when restoring one's car is OEM car parts. The term "OEM" means "original equipment manufacturer," which means that OEM automobile parts come directly from the business that made the car to begin with. In other words, if a person's Chevrolet Cavalier were to are unsuccessful because of the alternator or basic then an OEM alternator or starter could be purchased to be able to repair the car. The benefit for buying original equipment manufacturer auto parts is the actual fact that there will generally be considered a guarantee on the part that is purchased. A downside to buying OEM auto parts is the fact they are generally much more expensive that other styles of auto parts. Whereas other automobile parts may be around $50, the same auto parts that are bought from the OEM may be up to $150. The price makes all the difference, too, when restoring your car, so that it may not necessarily behoove you to get OEM auto parts.
On the other hand, the other kind of auto parts that may be purchased when repairing a car is after-market automobile parts, or car parts that are made for the same auto by third-parties. These automobile parts are generally much much easier to run into, and even more auto repair shops and retail stores generally bring after-market automobile parts instead of OEM vehicle parts. That is one of the big advantages to buying those types of car parts, but another is that they are significantly less expensive than OEM automobile parts. This is touched on within the last paragraph about OEM parts, but after-market auto parts are usually 50% or even more less than the initial manufacturer's auto parts.
